1969-2010
I thought it was only fitting that the best designs of Alexander McQueen be the number one looks of 2010.
At Left: Spring 1998. In a memorable moment, McQueen unleashed rains on the runway. "This collection highlighted all of his white shimmery pieces," says Hal Rubenstein, a fashion director for InStyle Magazine. "Basically every model was soaked to the skin".
At Right: Fall 2005. This collection was a tribute to Alfred Hitchcock heroines from Tippi Hedren in The Birds to Kim Novak in Vertigo. "Dresses were inspired by all the Hitchcock blondes," says Rubenstein. "Featuring highly tailored, sculpted waists and lots of suits, it was very much the tailoring of the fifties".
