Fall 2011 Beauty Trends

Slick Ponytail at Marc Jacobs
Run hair over with a flat iron and pull back into a tight, high ponytail and secure with an elastic. Take out a one inch section of hair from the ponytail and wrap around the elastic, securing with a bobby pin. Spray with shine and hair spray.

Red Lips at Gucci
For fair skin: use blue based lipsticks, like M.A.C. Lipstick in Ruby Woo

For medium skin, anything goes! Lucky you! Try one of the many shades of red by MAKE UP FOR EVER's Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick

For dark skin, go with a rich deep red, like NARS Lipstick in Shanghai Express or Afghan Red.

When in doubt, go with a classic true red like Illamasqua Lipstick in Maneater

Dramatic Eyeliner at Gianfranco Ferré
Make tiny dashes with your pencil on your lashline to create the shape. then go over with more pencil or liquid liner. use at least one coat of mascara. Thin line for day, thick for night. try pairing with red lips.

Perfect Blush at Carolina Herrera
Brush color on apples and sweep towards ears. A good ol powder blush is good for every skin tone and type. It is best to pick a color that is not too bright and is one or two steps up from your natural skin tone.

Try: NARS Blush in one of their 21 shades

Smokey Metallic Eye at Chanel
For fair skin: Any metallic! Check out all of the metallic colors by Urban Decay Eyeshadow

For dark skin: Golden or bronze colors are best. Try Bobbi Brown Metallic Long Wear Cream Eye Shadow in Goldstone

Finally, Unretouched!

Finally! An unretouched ad for makeup! Make Up For Ever has released an ad, unretouched, and I think it looks great. This is the foundation that I use, (I am not just giving them a plug, I swear, I love this stuff). Even though it is $40, foundation is one makeup product you should not feel guilty about splurging on. You'd be surprised how much of a difference an amazing concealer and foundation can do. Go to a Sephora store near you and try stuff on. Find your favorite type (liquid, powder, cream, tinted moisturizer is great for the summer) and your closest shade. A great foundation can help keep your pores more clear too!
